BS-MS Dual Degree Programme:

It is a five year dual degree programme for bright and motivated science students who have passed class XII. The programme integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions. The first two years of the programme consist of core courses in basic sciences, the third and fourth years are dedicated to specialization in chosen science subjects and the fifth year includes a research project. The training during the programme enables students to pursue a career in academia, R&D institutes and science based industries.

Currently, IISER Bhopal offers BS-MS (Dual Degree) programme in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Admission:

The process of admissions in all IISERs is managed by the Joint Admissions Committee (JAC), headed by a Chairman and having members from all the five IISERs. The details regarding admissions in all IISERs can be obtained by clicking at www.iiseradmission.in

Eligibility:

Students will be admitted to the Five Year BS-MS Dual Degree programme beginning August 2014 through the following channels:

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Basic Science Stream: Students qualifying in SA (2012)/SX (2013)/SB (2013).
  • Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced)2014: Students securing a place in the rank list of Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
  • State and Central Boards: Those, who are eligible for INSPIRE scholarship by Department of Science and Technology (DST) on the basis of their aggregate scores in class XII may be considered for admission after clearing an aptitude test
Scholarship:

KVPY scholars admitted to IISERs would draw fellowship as per KVPY norms. In addition a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships will be available for candidates admitted through JEE Advanced and SCB channel as applicable as per the norms prescribed by DST INSPIRE scheme.

Reservation:

While allotting seats at various IISERs, reservation rules regarding General, OBC (Non Creamy Layer), SC, ST and PD candidates are strictly followed as laid down by the Government of India. (Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006 )

    Students whose results for CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship or ICMR-JRF category-I or DBT-JRF A category or Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship or INSPIRE-Ph.D. or any other equivalent fellowship are awaited may also apply with their roll number(s) mentioned in the application. Such candidates may walk-in for the interview provided they have qualified examination for any of the above fellowship before the interview date.     If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University reports:

    1. Only marks, percentage will be considered.

  2. Candidates having a M.Tech./M.E. degree from India must have qualified the GATE exam at the time of taking admission to the M.Tech./M.E. programme. However, exceptionally brilliant B.Tech. candidates with a valid GATE score can also apply.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, will be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories.

Mere fulfilling the eligibility criterion does not entitle a candidate to be called for the test and interview.

Age: Preferably not more than 28 years as on January 01, 2017. Age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC (Non Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST/PD/Female applicants.

JEST is mandatory for applying to Integrated PhD program in Physics at IISER Bhopal starting Academic Year 2017-18. To apply for the Integrated PhD program in Physics at IISER Bhopal, you are required to have qualified JEST in 2016 or you need to appear for JEST in 2017. Candidates will be shortlisted for a written test to be conducted at IISER Bhopal on the basis of their JEST rank.


IISER Bhopal offers Integrated Ph.D. programme in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for bright and motivated students who have received their Bachelor’s degree. The programme is aimed to provide young motivated individuals with a rigorous training, desired level of scientific understanding and a glimpse of global contemporary research at an early stage to enable them to pursue a career in science education and research. After successful completion of the coursework based on the advanced professional courses, students may continue with the state-of-the-art research which leads to the Ph.D. degree. However, the students, who do not intend to carrying out their Ph. D degree, can exit the programme with an MS Degree after the successful completion of the course work

Admission to the Integrated Ph.D. programme will be made once a year during May/June. Advertisement would be floated between March/April.

Reservation:
